For the first time Toyota will offer the 4Runner TRD Pro in Canada. In the process, the Japanese manufacturer takes a vehicle already very capable and making it even more robust and ready for any road you throw at it. The TRD Pro is just a version we will see on the 2017 Toyota 4runner line-up model, and it will be available with a new TRD OFF-ROAD package that can take it even further.
2017 Toyota 4runner Exterior
The 2017 Toyota 4runner will continue to perform both on and off the road, however, it will get updates that add more function all around. Outside, the new Toyota 4runner will have more aggressive features like a wider grille, fuller round fog lights and slightly larger wheel arches. The 4Runner will also achieve an overall weight reduction through wider application of lighter alloys in engineering.
2017 Toyota 4runner Interior
Inside, an Optitron LCD will replace the traditional dashboard. The steering wheel will have even more buttons and a slightly increased diameter. All seats will be enhanced, becoming more comfortable and providing effective lateral support. The multimedia system is represented by a 7-inch touchscreen and six speakers. The upper versions will have leather upholstery and wood trim. The interior of the 2017 Toyota 4runner will be as spacious as before. The rear seats would comfortably accommodate a person up to 6’2 “tall with easy access to the third row.
2017 Toyota 4runner Engine
Probably one of the biggest disadvantages of the current model is the engine. The 4.0-liter is not efficient, not that powerful and fairly rough. The Tacoma has already been updated in this segment with the addition of a brand new 3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6 unit that can run in a modified Atkinson cycle to save fuel, or it can run in its regular mode. A new technology has been introduced here, and it uses direct injection, and it offers more power than the old 4.0-liter unit. However, it is not as smooth as many would like and effectiveness is always mediocre at best. Some have said that the 2017 Toyota 4runner rumor would receive a brand new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine, but in our opinion, this is very unlikely.
