Since its launch in 2012, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1E has grown to be the muscle car of the Camaro range. The debut of the Camaro ZL1 of 2017 helped to change that perception with its performance, and now the surprise revelation of the ZL1 1LE turns the idea that the model is only good for burnouts completely on its head.
Chevrolet revealed the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE at Daytona International Speeway before Daytona 500 this weekend. The car is essentially a mixture of the current ZL1 and the Z-28 of the latest generation. The package will be offered as an option on a 2018 Camaro ZL1 Coupon starting this summer, and will result in a 3-second fast turn around Milford Proving Grounds from GM.
2018 Chevy Camaro 1lE Outside
While the usual 1LE package added ZL1 parts to the SS (and more recently the V-6 model), this upgrade converts the supercharged ZL1 into a more aggressive vehicle. The exterior extensions are limited to the air deflectors and diving plans at the front and a new rear fender, but these elements considerably alter the aerodynamics of the ZL1. Devel Devel has opted specifically for this car, the unique deflectors attached to the side grips in the bumper and the dive planes in the splitting zone produce a downward generating handle that helps the car to roll faster. The carbon fiber rear fender, which is significantly larger than anything else offered on the Camaro so far has a similar role.

2018 Chevy Camaro 1lE Inside
While the exterior has received two important features, the interior is roughly identical to the ZL1 standard. Chevy did not have much to say here and did not even bother to publish photos, but this is not surprising, as the 1LE only adds a few options as standard. New features include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and a premium Bose sound system.

So it’s pretty much a comfort thing and has nothing to do with performance, as you would expect from the two badges ZL1 and 1LE. This is a bit disappointing, as Chevy has been thinking about improving aerodynamics, downstream, overall performance, but GM is probably trying to keep customers looking for comfort as happy.
2018 Chevy Camaro 1lE Engine
The 2018 Chevy Camaro 1LE uses the same 650-liter, 650 lb-ft LT4 V-8 supercharged powder as the standard ZL1, so all upgrades occur outside the engine bay. The 1LE replaces stock tires 285 wide with 305s at the front and 325s at the rear. The tires are the new Eagle F1 Supercar 3R from Goodyear, the company’s first tire design. The tires were developed specifically for the ZL1 1LE and are the largest to appear in a Camaro factory.
Release Date and Price
Chevy said the new ZL1 1LE would join the dealers later this year, with prices to be announced.
