If the public game against the next Sonata, mainly in its home country, caused Hyundai to pour cold water into the nervous design of the mid-size sedan, the Hyundai Sonata 2018 is a reaction to its Predecessor.
2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Design
Its appearance is a little cleaner on the outside, with new daytime daytime running lights integrated into a more sculpted front bumper. A special grid treatment is included on the Sport models to help them stand out a bit, but models such as the medium quality Sonata SEL miss this treatment. At the back of the new Sonata, the differences are more remarkable. Its taillights almost seem as if they were trimmed in its tailgate and the rear short rear deck gives something a quick look. Revised 16, 17 and 18 inch alloy wheels are available depending on trim level.

Inside, you will have to dig a little further to spot the differences beyond a few new pieces and a revised steering wheel, but they are there. A standard 7.0-inch touch screen takes center stage with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A Qi wireless charging pad has been added to the list of options and there is now an additional USB port to provide rear passengers with a charging point. Hyundai even includes Amazon Echo and Google Home integration to keep owners connected to devices. The optional Sonata navigation system now includes a surround camera system and has HD Radio traffic data.
2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Engine
Under its hood, we expect 2018 Sonata Hybrid to continue with its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 154 horsepower and 140 pounds of torque. This engine couples with an electric motor that produces 51 horsepower and 151 pounds of torque. The total output of the two drive units is 193 horsepower. We expect the fuel economy to remain the same at 38 miles per gallon, 43 highway and 40 combined.
