The supercars segment is a fast moving part of the market where outsiders must always be a step ahead of the curve. McLaren is not exactly the biggest manufacturer out there, so they really can not afford a bad one. They have relaunched the current 650S in 2014 and have since improved it continuously. Well, it now seems that a new model will take its place. The McLaren P14 2018 is expected to be released in the first half of 2017 and it will completely replace the 650S. As before, the car will not be quite new. Instead, it will be more like a refined 650S which, in turn, is based on the 12C.
2018 Mclaren P14 Design
McLaren has kept its overall design direction intact, but the new car is nevertheless radical. The iconic rounded nose is retained but especially everything else at the front is different. The elegant projectors are positioned in a triangular compartment with large ventilation areas. A minimum of backup is provided by another set of inlets at the bottom and on the hood.

The sides of the car are sheared and get a large airport duct near the front of the door. The rear also improved, moving from the square-ish 650S design to more ‘P1’ levels. This is evident from the angular design elements, the new engine hood and the LED taillights. Its exhaust ends are circular and the deployable rear fenders can be seen.
2018 Mclaren P14 Engine
We still do not know what the P14 powertrain is, but there are assumptions. One of them is that the engine is a 4.0 liter Biturbo V8 that is good for 720 hp (537 kW). It is also rumored that a hybrid version could be even more powerful and that it will come out later. The vehicle will have an updated 3.8-liter V8 capable of producing just under 700 hp (522 kW).
McLaren should use a MonoCell carbon fiber monocoque chassis for this model to achieve weight reduction and deliver a very fast car. Apparently, the vehicle is full, but only people with deep pockets can see it now. The P14 will officially start in Geneva in March, so we will have to wait a little longer.
2018 Mclaren P14 Launch Date and Price
The Mclaren P14 2018 is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2017. The launch will take place the same year. The McLaren 650S costs £ 198,000 for coupe and £ 215,250 as a convertible. P14 should be above these numbers.
