The GLA class may not be the prettiest car in the Mercedes-Benz range, but it has a reasonable sales success. The compact crossover shares its platform with the CLA class and is designed to take on the likes of the Acura RDX, the Audi Q3, the BMW X1 and the Lexus NX. Three years after the launch of the GLA, Mercedes-Benz unveils a facelifted model for 2018 that rolls through concessions by the middle of the year.
2018 Mercedes Benz GLA Outside
An expressive design with a clear SUV character and technical performance remain the most important reason to buy the GLA for most customers. Customers have the choice of an off-road comfort suspension (optional) that raises the body 30 millimeters, Better road holding, a higher seat position and an outstanding off-roader look. The modified bumpers, new wheels and the new attractive color “Canyon Beige” feature the 2018 model at a glance. GLA thus visually underscores its SUV genes to an even greater degree than before. The bi-xenon headlamps, previously optional, have been replaced by efficient LED spotlights characterized by a color temperature similar to daylight.
Available as an option on the GLA250 and as standard on the AMG GLA45, High Performance LED spotlights replace the currently available bi-xenon headlights. Along with the brilliant lighting, these headlights are characterized by a color temperature similar to daylight and relieve tension on the eyes when driving at night. Energy consumption is also lower: about 60 percent less than xenon and about 70 percent less than halogen. The dipped headlights work with LED spotlight-beam technology and high beam with LED reflector technology. The indicators, daytime running lights and position lights are designed as multifunctional fiber optic cables and allow for undeniable style with higher design degrees of freedom. For convenience, changing a light bulb is no longer necessary throughout the life of the car.
2018 Mercedes Benz GLA Inside
The attractive interior of the 2018 Mercedes Benz GLA with high quality materials and excellent workmanship is enhanced by new seat covers and trim pieces as well as chrome control panels. The 8-inch multimedia display is thin and easy to read, as are the new red-needle gauges. The controls for the switches on the electric seat adjustment in the doors were given small effective highlights in chrome silver – and the storage compartment in the center console is also surrounded by a chrome frame. In addition, the ventilation rings of the air conditioning are more strongly accentuated and emphasize the harmonious feel of the SUV inside.
Exclusively available in this market segment, the 360-degree camera records the direct environment of the car either as a complete picture or as seven different displays on the media display. Among them is also a virtual overhead view of the car – produced from the data of four cameras: the front, rollover and a camera in each of the exterior mirrors. The interior package, with standard sports seats, remains available as an option and is intended for the particular sporting customer. The Night Package package includes 19-inch AMG wheels and black glass, exterior mirrors, roof rails, exhaust tips and exterior accents that emphasize the GLA’s sporty appearance.
2018 Mercedes Benz GLA Engine
