A brand new design with an evolutionary style, a more sophisticated powertrain, and more advanced features. Unchanged will be this medium-sized medium-sized SUV on frame construction.
The new design of the 2018 model year will launch the sixth generation of an SUV originally introduced in 1984. Note that we did not qualify it as a crossover: this is because the 4Runner is among the last of a dying breed : Traditional truck type, body on frame. Just 10 years ago, it was the standard SUV, with 4Runner accompanied by truck-like designs that included the Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder and Dodge Durango. While other medium-sized SUVs, such as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, were removed, the explorer, Patherfinder and Durango turned into crossovers, mimicking automotive-type construction by unifying their body and chassis in one structure.
2018 Toyota 4runner Outside
With the new platform, a new design will be used. The current car seems much more aggressive than its equivalent competitors. The next generation, on the other hand, should change a bit. Instead of the boxy look, we will probably get something a little curvier. The front could now share some design signals with the smaller RAV4 while at the rear the crossover could receive a more sporty appearance with a smaller tailgate and possibly a more aggressive roof spoiler.
Interior of Toyota 4Runner 2018
The most important changes for the new 2018 Toyota 4Runner should occur inside the cabin. Here, the new model, thanks to the new platform, there should be much more space. As standard, the 4Runner will likely get 7 seats, will feature a much lower floor. This will not only offer more space, but it will also give the driver a much better driving position. 2018 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro comes with a bold grid and black bezel headlights. It is equipped with all-terrain tires specially designed for maximum traction on road and off-road. The cab comes with iHeartRadio, Pandora and Destination Search. The Entune Premium Audio System takes the audio system to a whole new level. The shift knob is covered with leather and offers greater durability.
2018 Toyota 4runner Engine
Currently the car offers only a 4.0-liter V6 that returns poor fuel economy but a really good torque curve that is perfect for off-roading. The next 2018 Toyota 4Runner will not be able to use this engine because it is way too inefficient. However, this does not mean that it will be less powerful or capable. In fact, it seems that the new model could use the same 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 Tacoma. This combines variable valve control, direct injection, a modified Atkinson cycle as well as a truly intelligent computer system.
