The fully suspended steel suspension will support the Defender, renouncing the more complex adjustable system available on the Discovery, and a dual-range transfer case will be part of the standard mechanical package.

Land Rover Defender 2018 Engine
We expect that the new Defender will include a development of the Land Rover progression, descent and terrain response systems used by the current range to ensure that it is the 4 × 4 most Able on the market. To guarantee its capacity on difficult terrain, four-wheel drive will be standard on each model with the ability to lock the differentials for more grip as needed.
Aluminum will be widely used in the construction of the next Defender. This will not only keep the weight low, but the solid chassis – allowing Land Rover to use a suspension of configuration sufficiently flexible to deal with difficult terrain. The DC100 concept used a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 petrol engine, but production models will likely use the new 2.0-liter Land Rover diesel engine.
